We (the founders) tried over 40 pairs of fit-over sunglasses that were available on the market before starting Fittys. There were a few major problems we found with all existing options that we are looking to improve on with Fittys.

#1 - Lens quality. Most existing fit-over brands have a lens quality that is either poor or unknown because they don't advertise it. As the whole point of sunglasses is to put protective lenses in front of your eyes, we went with the highest quality lens provider in the world for Fittys by partnering with Carl Zeiss for our lenses. They have great clarity. They're super durable. Also, our polarized lenses have a scratch-resistant coating.

#2 Design. Which glasses you like is of course a personal choice, but a lot of the existing fit-overs in the market look like medical devices. We didn't like this. Instead of going that route, we chose to invest in design to create something more modern and timeless.

#3 Frame material. We wanted a quality frame material. We went with TR90 which can be sat on, dropped, left on a hot dashboard etc. and keep going without being damaged. (Also our frames are made of 58% biomaterial sourced from a carbon-neutral plant.)

These changes are so different that we believe Fittys is a unique and premium product in this market.

We know we're not a fit for everybody, but just wanted to explain our thoughts behind the design of Fittys and give context as to why we prioritized these differences.

Fittys was founded by a husband and wife team that's passionate about solving this problem. We're both members of the four-eyed community and we were constantly frustrated with our sunglass options.

We have a young family and would love to see this business grow into a family business in the decades to come.

We came up with the idea in Fall of 2023 and launched on Kickstarter to a very positive reception in June of 2024. It's been very exciting since!

Yes! Fittys are often worn by those who aren't wearing glasses just for the style and the luxury-quality lens.

In short, because the lenses block 100% of UV rays and UV rays are what trigger transitions to get darker, Fittys provide darkness while also stopping your transitions from getting darker. Considering this, Fittys should provide darkness while avoiding any redundant darkening.

However, for an abundance of caution, we do not recommend wearing Fittys over your transition lenses while driving.
